Symptoms of Trauma – if you recognize your student or child experiencing any of the following signs or symptoms, they may be experiencing the effects of trauma or violence.

- Change in appetite
- Inability to focus/concentrate, difficulty completing assignments
- Increased physical complaints (headaches, stomach aches)
- Increased fear or anxiousness
- Anger outbursts towards adults and/or peers
- High-risk behaviors
- Isolation, not playing with others
- Depressed mood, more quiet, more sad, less talkative, more tired
- Truancy
- Suicidal thoughts or attempts at suicide
If you recognize any of these signs or symptoms or have concerns about your child’s mental health after they have experienced a traumatizing event, please consult a professional.
